Cornelius was willing to just send his trusted soldier, and two of his servants, to do exactly what the Lord had instructed him to do. We also read about how he [Cornelius] literally prepared his whole household; and gathered them together in preparation for Peters arrival and for what the Lord was about to do. We're told, Cornelius had his prayers and arms had come up to the Lord. So there were things that he was requesting of the Lord; and there was clearly faith that the Lord was going to answer them completely.That's a testament to him, but also an example to us about his faith being an action.
